Conference Description
This popular annual conference offers a new slate of
industry-leading presenters who will take us through the latest
techniques and strategies for preserving cosmetics. You
will learn not only how to test, but
means to formulate using traditional and "natural" compounds.
The program will range from presentations on technical and
compliance-related problems to interactive case studies to
round-table discussions. Participants will have the opportunity
to interact with leaders from industry, FDA and the Personal
Care Products Council (the Council).
The purpose of this meeting is to provide a forum for the
sharing of questions, answers and information on current topics
affecting the cosmetic microbiologist for the Microbiology
Laboratory. One of major concerns in the microbiology function
is the identification of relevant guidance for the unique
product category. This year has seen a great deal of
progress towards internationally harmonized procedures
through the ISO process - this will be extensively discussed.
To quote Phil Geis:
"Cosmetics are unique products, as diverse as foods
without the practical limits of controlled shelf lives; they
overlap with drugs but without the near-sterile
manufacturing systems enjoyed by that category of product.
The microbiology of cosmetics is also a unique and arcane
science and practice that, unlike food or drug microbiology,
is not supported by established academic programs or a
significant body of publication."
